Dear Brothers and Sisters, I write to you from London where I am attending a meeting of the Primates' Standing Committee. I have had a matter of hours to review the Report of the Lambeth Commission on Communion, thus I will now offer only some preliminary observations.

I welcome the publication of the Windsor Report. I was privileged to be part of the Lambeth Commission, and despite some very honest exchanges, we were able to come together as a Commission to offer what I believe represents a genuine way forward for the future of the Anglican Communion.

The Bishop of Croydon travelled to Kazakhstan for the Second Meeting of the Secretariat in Turkestan (11-14 October 2004). The purpose of this meeting of the Secretariat was to set the terms, direction and content for the Congress in Astana in 2006.

The press launch of the Windsor Report, produced by the Lambeth Commission will be launched on Monday, 18 October, 12.00 midday. The Launch will take place in St Paul's Cathedral Crypt.

The Anglican - al-Azhar al-Sharif Joint Committee for dialogue met in Cairo 8-9 September 2004 and issued the following communique. On the Anglican side the dialogue was administered on behalf of the Archbishop of Canterbury's office by the Network for Inter faith Concerns of the Anglican Communion (NIFCON)

The Lambeth Commission on Communion announced today that it is to publish its report in London on Monday 18 October 2004 at the beginning of the meeting in London of the Joint Standing Committee of the Primates' Meeting and the Anglican Consultative Council

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, yesterday presided over the Lambeth Degree award ceremony in Lambeth Palace Chapel. On this occasion he has awarded six degrees.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Rowan Williams, has announced the award of the Cross of St Augustine to twelve recipients. The award, which is in the gift of the Archbishop, marks conspicuous service to the Church and the wider community. The twelve listed below will receive the award at a ceremony in the Chapel at Lambeth Palace on 8 November 2004.
